Behind the Blade: The 110 Slim Elite

By Buck Knives

For over 60 years, the Buck 110 Folding Hunter has remained one of the most iconic knives in American history. Introduced in 1964, it quickly redefined what a folding knife could be — strong, reliable, and elegant enough to be passed down through generations. With its classic lockback design, clip point blade, genuine ebony handle, and brass bolsters, the 110 became a staple in hunting packs, work belts, and family stories across the country.

But as much as the 110 is revered for its heritage, times — and carry preferences — have evolved.

The all-new 110 Slim Elite

A Quiet Legend Inside the Shop

While the original 110 earned its reputation in the field, those inside the Buck factory knew of a different take. Over the years, there were murmurs of an internal favorite: a slimmer, more pocket-friendly version of the 110 that never officially saw the light of day. Designed to be sheath-free, discreet, and EDC-ready — but still unmistakably a 110.

It was a knife that balanced tradition with the needs of modern users. But it was never released. Until now.

This new 110 Slim Elite handle is 1/4" thinner than the standard 110 handle.

Stealth Run #10 : 110 Slim Elite

The 110 Slim Elite is the first-ever production realization of that internal, fabled build. Adorned with premium, BOS heat-treated MagnaCut steel for elite-level edge retention and corrosion resistance, it features a streamlined profile that’s a full ¼” thinner than the original. A deep-carry pocket clip replaces the need for a sheath. Genuine ebony inlays and polished nickel silver bolsters ensure that classic Buck style stays intact.

Limited to just 1,000 pieces, this Stealth Run knife bridges the past and present — a collector’s gem and a practical everyday companion.

“This version of the 110 has existed as an idea for years — something we talked about around the shop but never released. With the Slim Elite, we’ve captured that insider vision and made it real for the customer. It’s everything we love about the original 110, just tuned for daily carry.”

-LEE ALTHEN, PRODUCT MANAGER

Whether you’ve carried a 110 for decades or are discovering its legacy for the first time, the Slim Elite proves that legends don’t stand still — they evolve.

History of the Northwest – Edward Pulaski and the Great Fire of 1910

“We reached the mine just in time, for we were hardly in when the fire swept over our trail. I ordered the men to lie face down upon the ground of the tunnel and not dare to sit up unless they wanted to suffocate, for the tunnel was filling with fire gas and smoke. One man tried to make a rush outside, which would have meant certain death. I drew my revolver and said, ‘The next man who tries to leave the tunnel I will shoot.’ ”- Edward Pulaski
