This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
Multiple Blade Shapes
For great performance when field dressing game, a gut or skinning hook is an ideal tool. We’ve paid careful attention to the angles on the sharpened edge, shape and size of the entry opening and location of the hook on the blade, making a Buck gut hook the best.
This is a nice little set and the knives work great. The sheath needs some more work as the knives can easily fall out. I have used this kit on two elk and one deer.
Received the SS finish version of this kit and love it. When you are done, these clean off super easy. As always, these came from Buck crazy sharp.
So I got shown this by a clerk at a local outfitter called Bi-Mart. She and her husband use one. Her father also bought a kit. So I took a chance. I have to say I am impressed with the pack light line. I even bought a smaller one to carry when squirrel hunting.
These knives came razor sharp. So far I have used the kit to field dress and butcher 2 deer and they preformed wonderfully. I have no complaints. My brother even said that if he hadn't already had a kit he would have bought another like mine.
I agree about the sheets but these knives are awesome
