420HC Steel

This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.

Interesting little knife

Really interesting knife. I bought it on a whim just because it looked so different from any other Buck I've owned and the price was right. I noticed here on the website it says it's imported but the one I bought was made right here in the USA and has a white cream colored handle. Wonder why they aren't all made in the USA? My first impression was that it's actually very light and although the overall shape is strange it feels pretty good in my hand. The curves give great balance and control in your palm. You can comfortably hold and angle it several ways. It reminds me of a Buck Caper but with more knife carving ability. The stone washed steel looks cool and gives it character. There's just one thing I do not like. Like the previous reviewer mentioned the sheath is horribly designed. Mine is too tight and after a few weeks of use I still struggle having to get this knife in and out. Not sure why they decided on plastic but a horizontal or cross carry option would have been much better. I'd even take a nylon sheath. Overall I'm giving it a 3 rating. If Buck continues to carry this model a better quality sheath would be a must have in the future.

Perfect knife for whitetail hunting

I have carried this knife for two seasons now and I can't express how great of a whitetail knife it is. It allows me to field dress a deer in no time. The handle fits my hand perfectly and allows me to maneuver the knife effortlessly. The blade is just the right length to take care of business and it holds its edge well. I bought the white handled USA version at Walmart and wish I could get another one for my son. Wonderful knife, keep the great products coming!

Buck 877C..... guess the C means China.

Kinda disappointed......well very disappointed. Good knife, however, I a bit upset at the misleading box and origin of this knife.....BOX SAYS MADE IN USA....KNIFE SAYS MADE IN CHINA. What is the deal? I would return the knife, however, I do not live in the town where I bought it.....FEELING RIPPED OFF as I NEVER buy edged tools or weapons from other than than MADE IN THE USA.......perhaps Solingen.....but thats it. I demand quality. I am not afraid to pay for it... And China can not deliver.

MY BUCK MAVERICK

BOUGHT MY BUCK MAVERICK MODEL #877 I FOUND IT AT MY LOCAL WALMART BACK IN THE SPORTING GOODS SECTION. WHEN I SEEN THIS ONE WAS USA MADE AND ONLY COST ME $23.00 MINE HAS A ALL WHITE HANDLE WHICH I FOUND OUT THE WHITE HANDLE ONE'S WITH USA MADE STAMP WAS DONE FOR WALMART ONLY TO SELL AND ONCE THEY ARE GONE THEIR WILL BE NO MORE. THE ONE'S BUCK MAKES ARE CHINA MADE BUT FROM WHAT I HEAR THEY ARE GONNA START MAKING THEM THIS YEAR 2016 WITH ALL USA MADE STEEL WHICH IM GLAD TO SEE. I BOUGHT MINE THANKSGIVING NIGHT AND CARRIED IT DEER HUNTING ALL THAT WEEK. THIS KNIFE WILL MAKE A GREAT KNIFE TO SQUIRRL HUNT AND RABBIT HUNT WITH I CANT WAIT TO GET TO USE IT MORE SOON I HOPE. RIGHT NOW IT IS KEPT IN MY HUNTING BACKPACK ALONG WITH MY BUCK 102 WOODSMAN, 679 MAX LITE GUT HOOK, 673 MAX LIGHT.

question

Too small for me, I bought it for my wife, fits her hand. My question is that the package and the blade says USA but the Buck Website says the knife is imported. Which is it? I would like to limit my purchases to MADE IN THE USA if possible. Model 877. Appears to be well made, but still I want honesty along with quality.

Maverik

Bought this knife to put in m tackle box. The more check it out the more I like it. Good piece of steel, well thought out design. The one I have is marked made in the usa, has white handle and two lanard holes in the sheath. If the sheath had four more holes in it to allow ou to rotate the belt clip for inside the waistband carr it.would be perfect

Great knife OK holster

This is a great knife the blade can really take on on heck of a edge. The shape of the handle looks a little weird but it does just as buck advertise it fits perfectly in your hand and feels wonderful. The holster is a little less desired the knife fits lose and rattles around. Just a personal opinion I wish that buck would stick to their products being made here in the good old USA and not made in China like this knife other than that this is a great knife.

I bought the Walmart version (white handle, made in the USA, same steel) I think it is a great knife. It has taken the place of my 110 on my belt, for EDC.

Easy Carry

Great knife. Lightweight yet extremely dense. Full tang, drop point if you can't tell from the picture (not in description). The sheath is superb, but I wish it had a belt-clip rather than a closed loop (not in picture). You can easily adjust the cant with a small hex. Fantastic retention.

Great knife, still leaves me wanting.

Great knife! First glance had me thinking it appeared a bit strange but still had to get it of course, it is still a Buck right!? After just some initial use I found the knife to begin impressing me repeatedly with its multiple unique features. The size I very much fell in love with as it is really essentially the same size as a folding knife making it perfect for those times when the task calls for nothing much bigger than a folder although a folder just feels a little...insecure, and so having a full-tang fixed blade is just more comfortable and secure feeling. The blade I also found to be very solid and good quality, plus the shape of the blade has proven to be likely it's best feature. The one place that I have found myself quite disappointed is the sheath! The sheath itself seems to work fine. It is the mounting and carry options that made me bummed. The single option of a feed through belt style carry is pretty disappointing. Also the single screws that allow the belt loop to be used on either side do not seem likely to have the greatest life span. If this problem was corrected to feature a more secure and durable mount with the added ability to be carried horizontally and even be MOLLE compatible this would force me to change my rating of the knife to a 10 out of 5 (yeah you read that right!) With a better sheath/carry option this knife easily could be one of my all time favorites. Especially with its incredibly hard to beat price which i would happily pay double just for a correction of my perceived carry problems. Anyway overall I guess I'd have to say it is a great knife and I have found it to repeatedly impress me much more than I would have expected and I am very happy with my addition to my family of blades and tools. It quickly became one of my main everyday carries. The one issue I stated proves to be the only possible one as far as I'm concerned. So final statement: damn good job BUCK! Once again showing me the pointlessness of my straying to other companies from time to time when all you ever really need is a Buck!
