Has a thumb stud, blade hole or other feature to facilitate one-hand use. Some models are one-hand opening and one-hand closing as well..
We consider this the absolute best blade steel available, and it is made in America. S30V contains carbon as well as high amounts of Chromium, Molybdenum and Vanadium. This steel combines fantastic edge retention and high ductility combined with corrosion resistance. Double-tempered - it can be hardened to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 59.5-61. However, it is difficult to resharpen yourself, but we do offer sharpening services for a nominal fee.
This blade is full bellied with a strong, thick point for heavier tasks. It can also be used as a general work knife. The top of the blade drops down toward the tip, which minimizes accidental puncturing while skinning. The drop point blade is strong and very versatile.
So this knife is a few years old. The blade was very slightly bent and not too terribly sharp anymore. It had a little bit of wobble on the blade's hinge. I went to the Buck shop in Post Falls and after taking a look at it they brought me a brand new one. It's like Christmas all over again. This is a super comfy knife with a very easy open. The blade is tougher than nails and the weight feels perfect in my hand. Thanks for such an awesome knife!!!
The steel (S30V) is the toughest stainless invented for everyday carry: Bombproof, breakproof, chip proof, rustproof; best for tough cutting, prying, detailed wood processing. Perfect size for pocket, clip allows the whole knife to go all the way into pocket for complete knife conceal. instant easy swing opening without need for spring. While my original was not the most beautiful handle, it's surprisingly ergonomic. Some lateral wiggle between blade and handle as a trade off for over loosening the swing open-You can adjust this). Much extra time sharpening yields big rewards in ultra sharpness and edge retention (it will hold finer edges like a 30 degree better than anything if you want). No needed thumb stud means longer usable blade for slicing, ex. food, kindling wood split, etc. I wish there were a 4"+ version. After a few years of daily use, I lost the first one last week. Worth the money to replace with the same knife.
I have been buying knives all my life, and this is pretty close to the perfect EC I have found, the only problem I have found is trying to pull the knife out of my pocket as the scales hold too tight to the cloth, I think the surface under the clip should be smoother
I have the Vantage Force Pro with stonewashed blade and desert sand handles. The fit and finish isn't perfect, but it's good enough, it just begs to be used. The heat treatment of the steel is awsome, I didn't like S30V until I tried Buck's.
My Force Pro has an uncoated blade and camo scales. S30v premium steel, so great edge retention. Beefed up liner lock. Perfect fit and finish on my knife. Shop around and you can pick one up well under msrp. Made in the US (I don't buy any outdoor gear or hardware made elsewhere, ever). And manufactured by a company whose knives I've been using since 1968 when after harvesting my first deer a 11, my grandfather reached in his pocket handed me a new Buck 110 and said lets get busy. What's not to like. Great bang for the dollar. Good job Buck.
