This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
I finally got to try out my Slab Slinger fillet knife on a mess of crappie. I've used an electric knife for years because I thought it was faster and a hand held knife hurt my knuckles after a while and I had trouble going through the rib bones. No problem with the Slab Slinger. The trailing point makes insertion very easy and the knife went through the ribs with little effort. No electric cord needed! The razor edge went through the fillets with ease. After cleaning 2 or 3 fish I had my rhythm and it went fast from there. Comfortable grip relieves hand and knuckle stress. Thanks, Buck for a great little fillet knife!
