This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
Best suited for skinning game. The tip is narrow, while the wide curved belly gives a nice skinning sweep that aids in getting through thick layers. The downward angled, more blunt point makes it harder to make an accidental slice through the hide.

I was in the market for a skinning knife when buck brought out this a few years ago, bought it straight away no hesitations as i have other knives from buck. The quality in their knives are backed by their customer service which I cannot fault. This knife has served my well, using it from deer to goats even the odd marsupial. The knife gets a lot use and when kept beyond razor sharp glides effortlessly for the job at hand. Recommend for any hunter, skinner or lovers of beautiful knives.
I bought this knife for use on trails and in the woods and have owned a little over a year. It's great quality and has held up well. Things I like are that it feels good in the hands, feels sturdy and strong, stays sharp, easy to carry. Things I dislike are the brass area (it gets dirty quick and will need to be cleaned more than the blade). I also wish the handle was just a little longer. It's sized for small to medium hands but someone with bigger hands will have a hard time wanting to use it.
